Dear all,
Sorry for being late in response, i was so busy the past couple of weeks.

The version 1.5 is almost over i covered the long messages problem along with adding native support to لا thanks God.

Still remaining issue in Writing the message which i believe i solved in some other applications.

Currently I’m testing it, and it’ll be released very soon inshaAllah.

Hi Amr

what a fantastic effort? god bless you ;;

is there a way where you can convert this into an open source & collaborative effort so it can exell further and you get a lot of assistance?

Salam Amr,

Your application is fantastic, and I appreciate you (and Ahmed) getting unofficial Arabic support on Android to the point it is at now.

I’m an open source android developer interested in supporting Arabic in my apps (as well as writing apps for arabic speakers). Would you consider publishing the source for your application, or at least the development libraries used to render Arabic onscreen?

Open sourced Arabic libs for android would readily speed up the adoption of Arabic by the developer community at large, because I am sure there are many Arabic speaking Android devs who would love to add arabic support to their apps.

Releasing it on a site like sourceforge or google code would let you release incremental versions, and receive feedback (bug reports + patches) from other developers.

Please let me know what you think! I’d really appreciate it.

@akram the version 1.5 is still in it’s testing area, And i dont have much time to develop in it, so it’s taking a longer time than it supposed to!
…Sorry about that :\

@OS, I’m considering it.

@Casey The reason i didn’t share my code till now, is that It’s messed up, I was just trying a proof of concept, giving the fact that up till now i don’t own an Android phone , you would understand how doubtful I’m with my code to be released in public, But i’ll so much consider it in the next future inshaAllah.

@Amr

That’s totally understandable. I think it is a good idea to not release any user apps until they are nice and polished. However, if you were to open up your code for developers only (by not releasing anything on the market, or any APK) then you could get the community involved to help you in getting the libraries into a user-usable state!

Especially when you can get devs (like me) with actual android devices to help you test and fix bugs/features.

shokran owie for the response!
