No matter how hard you try to make your development environment as close as possible to your production, you get disappointed by a lot of errors in production mode!
Experience is what helps you in that issue, but even with experience the migration process from development to production still can be very painful.

But…I can proudly say, that you won’t face such a trouble with WebCenter Interaction!

Thanks to the WebCenter Interaction Migration mechanism, which export portal object in a .pte (PorTal Extension) to be imported easily with their dependencies and parents, the migration process couldn’t be easier, and it took me about ummm 30 minutes, to transfer more than 50 Community, 100 pages, layouts and custom portlets with it’s related dependencies (Includes copying and pasting files from both servers!).

So bad that WCI is no longer in strategic products of Oracle, it could be the best out there

humm, that’s a problem, I eat more than 2 times a week, so I started to download other stuff, stuff like TV Shows, well I watched so many TV Shows, Heroes, Prison Break, Malcolm in the Middle and House, and I finished them all -except for Malcolm, I couldn’t find a decent torrent-, and I always find it great to have a little laughters in my meals.

That’s why I love stand up comedy shows, its so amazing, Jim Carrey always crack me up, Robin Williams woohooo and lastly George Carlin

This guy is truly amazing, He may be old, but I had my hands on his old shows, and God it was hilarious, it has less swearing than the others, but lots and lots of fun.
His facial expressions always crack me up, and his quote always surprises me “There’s no present. There’s only the immediate future and the recent past.” Taking about the present in one of an amazing shows.

and so I was introduced to Disqus, a great web application that seamlessly integrate with any blogging system -except for blogpost-, and override its commenting system to replace it, and sync comments in both sides!

That’s great news, then why didn’t I do it early??

I recently faced a requirements when the customer needed to display a custom portlet of Oracle UCM specific Document Type in WebCenter Interaction, and those who don’t know WebCenter Interaction aka WCI aka AquaLogic User Interaction aka ALUI, should read about it!

Anyway so I went through UCM Content Portlet Suite (CPS), and I found the search but, the customer wanted a thumbnail (Rendition) of the document to be displayed!

After searching online I found an amazing article on different ways to integrate WebCenter application with Oracle ECM, of course the author was talking about Oracle WebCenter not Oracle WebCenter Interaction -There are differences, huge ones!- but one of the ways specifically interested me, that is using JSON output of the UCM services to be parsed using Javascript and do the work needed.

So HTML pages, can display content from UCM using Javascript and JSON Parsing, COOL!

So instantly -actually 2 weeks later!- I started to dig out how to deal with this JSON object returned, and how can I use it to fulfill my needs.

The author of the Video/Article gave 2 simple examples, Showing the folder structure of the UCM and to search UCM, using the Ajax way!

So as I wanted to get the result of a specific document type, so I was interested in his last example,

1- How can I tune his search query to give me what I need?,

2- How can I actually get the rendition of the file? and

3- How can I know the image path using the rendition?

So here is my initial draft for my To Do Summer list (that is in my spare time as I’ll be working in summer)

1- Organize my mails, and Finish reading all of them (I have about 515 unread mails)

2- Finish SOA 11g and Oracle IDM books

3- Create Apps (Maybe one for android, If I got my HTC EVO4)

If you have some thoughts, or if you have a plan, u can share it here as I may steal some of ur ideas

Second Scenario

Follow the following steps

Prerequisites:

1. iPhone Browser
2. SQL Lite 3
3. Notepad ++

After downloading all these software, plug your iphone and do the following:

1. First open up iPhone Browser and navigate to User/Library/SMS/sms.db and download it to your pc, lets say on C:\mySMS\sms.db

   

2. open your command prompt -after installing sql lite 3- and navigate to cd C:\mySMS\
3. write the following codes
sqlite3 mySMS
.restore sms.db
.output mySMS.txt
Select address, datetime(date,'unixepoch'), text from message;

4. To separate messages by a line feed, open Notepad++ and hit ctrl+f, go to replace tab and check the Regular Expression check box, and put the following in Find what ^(.+\|.+\|) and put the following in Replace with \n\1

And voala you have a text file with all your SMSs in it!

You only have to go for each mobile number and change it to the equivalent name by replace all functionality in Notepad++

PS: this is all your sms, sent and received, If you want only sent then change your query to “Select address, datetime(date,’unixepoch’), text from message where flags=3;” or “Select address, datetime(date,’unixepoch’), text from message where flags=2;” for received messages.

Its an exciting opportunity with different set of responsibilities and experiences, I feel I’m gonna enjoy it inshaAllah.

Lately I’ve become attached to my twitter account, as I hit my 100 follower!
Even facebook has become second in this list, as all my news has been transfered dynamically to my facebook through friendfeed app.

I’ve went into debate once about how much twitter is better than RSS feeds, as I used to be once attached to my RSS feeds through google reader myself.

The reasons that twitter is better than RSS in my opinion are:

1. twitter is more human!

   Yes you heard it right, you can actually feel it, RSS feeds are more like mails, it have subject, body and a sender, so solid and so boring, but twitter is more humanized, it shows you a title, maybe a link, a personal opinion and you can actually communicate with your twitter friend, while you cant with your RSS feed item!

2. a stream that you love

   In twitter I actually see all my news in a one stream, it makes it easy to know the latest news in the last days, without having to go to BBC RSS feed to know the latest news, and if I need any categorization I put them into a list of related interest or topic, and ofcourse if I need to know a news about certain somebody I can just click on his twitter account.
   I know many people will argue with me, as google reader have this feature as well, but believe me its different, even placing an icon -avatar- is more human readable than just a name of the RSS feed source!

3. it’s easier to follow, than adding new RSS feed to the list!

   Call me lazy, but with one click I get the streams I like from the person, and I don’t have to go to only the latest ten news, but I have access to all of his stories as well!

I can add some more reasons in the future, but right now I think you already realized the benefits.

And for those who don’t have a twitter account, go for it now you are wasting so much time already finding the news you like to read, while it can get right into your stream a few clicks ahead!
